Each person that walks through my office door is totally unique, and I love the process of getting to know them. As we explore together your reason for coming to see me, we establish a bond in a trusting relationship that supports your change process. I offer my education, training, and experience, but the most important work I do is forming a relationship with you. Research shows that all types of therapies and techniques can occur, but without a collaborative relationship, the work will not be effective. I will join with you in your goals, support and assist you as you move toward them, and celebrate with you when they are reached.
My Practice & Services
I have been using DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) in individual and group sessions since 1995. It is a skills-based therapy, with a core skill-set of mindfulness, and includes skills for managing stress, regulating emotions, and communicating in relationships. I have worked in the field of mental health and substance abuse since the early 1990's and continue to integrate research-supported practices into my work. I have expertise in the area of child abuse and family systems, and both my Master's and PhD work focused on those areas. I conduct parent custody, criminal violence, substance abuse, and mental health evaluations for individuals, courts, and attorneys on the Oregon coast. In 2007 I launched a website that provides information, support, and resources to mothers of sexually abused children.
