I view therapy as a collaborative process between you and me. Together we will talk about why you are seeking therapy and come up with goals and strategies to help you feel better. People come to a therapist for many different reasons and have usually tried to work things out themselves. When you aren't able to feel better with self-help, this is a time to seek professional help. Some people need just a few sessions to feel better and others need longer term help to accomplish their goals. I am trained on both short term and longer term treatment and we can decide together and as we continue to meet, what is right for you. Initial sessions are for diagnostic assessment and then we can plan how to proceed. The relationship between client and therapist is very important to accomplishing your goals so it is important to find someone you feel can understand you. I will ask you periodically how you feel about the therapy sessions and our rapport to make sure you are feeling comfortable In the process
Sometimes people have underlying issues that need to be addressed before they can feel better such as unresolved issues from childhood, medical problems, lack of adequate coping skills, etc. I will assess this with you.
My Practice & Services
Many people have insurance and / or Employee Assistance Programs they can use to help pay for therapy sessions. I am a provider for many insurance companies and EAPs. However, I am not a Medicare provider. We can talk about fees on the phone or when you come for the initial assessment. Sliding scale fees are available where there is no insurance and financial need.
I have offices in Chicago and Northbrook, Illinois and am available afternoons, nights and weekends. Free parking is available at both locations. Both offices are in upscale buildings at convenient locations for many people.
